Postcrossing is a great way to get in touch with people and to learn/see more about/of the world through postcards. I'd like to share my received postcards and therefore made this blog. I receive many postcards every day and I will try to upload them all!

Hello all!

I'm very tired so i'm keeping it simple today.

CZ-70963:

RU-197954: Sent from Egypt

DE-677803:

Swap (from France): Worth some words though, as this was a nice surprise. I'm now collecting cards of all 95 french departments, and Agnès swapped this card with me to help me with my collection. It's department 01 and seems like a beautiful region! Now I have 2 different departments cards, 93 to go!

And last but not least. 3 beautiful norwegian cards sent by Cathrine. I've swapped with her a few times before and I love getting cards from here and I think it's the other way round too as I make her collection of calendar postcards bigger.

Greetings from a very rainy netherlands! Streets are like rivers, but that didn't stop the mailmen from bringing the post around. So I also got some cards today.

JP-122761: This card is sent from Japan, written by Ai. She lives in Nagoya where this beautiful castle is situated. A very beautiful card with also typical Japanese blossoms seen on it. I loved the airport stamp she used.

BR-115957: Rio de Janeiro, a place full of heartwarming people I have heared. Well, this card was full of nice words written by Roberto from the big city so I guess what they say is right. This is his very first postcard sent and registered on postcrossing. I always like it to receive someone's first postcard sent.

US-801266: Today another magnificent owl card! This time from the US sent by Jean-Claude living in the high mountains of North Carolina where you apparently have lots of birds of prey. This barred owl is one of them. What a fantastic photograph and I really adore this cute looking owl.

FI-881491: And a rather different card from Finland. It is a card promoting a test where people need to answer questions about their habits and that would eventually result in details about their time of death and advice of getting a healthier lifestyle according to the sender Liris.

Hi everybody!

Today 3 postcards in my mailbox.

BE-70380: Sent by Rene that apparently likes my country very much. That's always nice to here. The card is a vintage card that shows the beach of Blankenberghe. A coastal town along the north-sea

EE-78247: Such an awesome Estonian owl postcard also reached my mailbox and I really love this cute looking owl. Still young and posing for the camera, almost with a face like: Leave me alone :( haha. A big thanks goes to Mari Elle and Jaana (the senders). Jaana wrote the card and Mari put the stamps on it. She did a great job , right? :)

TW-182462: A beautiful sunset postcard sent from Taiwan. She told me my name in Chinese looks like Harry Potter in their language. That gave me a good laugh, haha!
The fathers friend of her dad has made this photograph and I think it's really good.

Hello, starting all over again :)

Bolded = Got a card from there

Hello everybody,

as you probably have noticed: I'm not updating my blog since more than a week ago. Several reasons. I did not pass my exams which was a real bummer. In the end something went wrong and I got very bad marks while throughout the whole year everything went OK. So, you can imagine that I got very dissapointed about that, and still am. The stress isn't even gone (I have this for a long time already) as I have to make another exam. Hopefully this will result in one less bad mark when I do well. It's geography which Is a subject I am interested in. For some reason I did not well on the first exam but will try to change this with the second exam on tuesday. That's why I have to learn every single piece of information again and that takes much of my time.

Another reason for not updating my blog: I have received too many cards so I lost track on that. I get around 15 cards a day which begins to take a lot of my time that I really need to study and want to keep as relax time. Therefore I have given up this blog now, but don't worry, this will be over soon and then I will post lots of postcards again. I will be more choisy though when uploading postcards. Scanning, uploading and talking about 15 postcards a day is crazy! So soon I will only be posting my favorites and special cards.

That's about it I guess...

Take care everybody!

-Wesley

The best card I received today! A beautiful nightview of the building 'Casa Batlló' designed by Antoni Gaudi in Barcelona, Spain. A big card and an awesome nightview. Can't get any better, I guess.

Thank you very much!!

Heel erg bedankt voor het de foute maar leuke papegaaien kaart Sonja! Thank you Sonja!

What an interesting card. Not something I receive every day, haha. The back is full of stamps. I counted 9!! She ran out of stamps so she had to use stamps with small amount of money. It looks great!

Thank you Mary Jones!!

I received this Irish postcard sent from Finland. Not that I mind, because this is one very pretty view of a castle in Limerick!

Some info:
The history of Limerick dates from about the middle of the ninth century, when the Danes made a settlement here. To-day Limerick is the fourth largest city in Ireland and is well laid out with wide streets and commands an important position on the River Shannon.

Sounds interesting and kind of makes me want to go there.

This is one fantastic card! Such pretty colors and a very interesting bird. I really love this card and was definitely a great surprise!

Some info on the Kookaburra: The Kookaburras belong to the family of the Kingfishers and are native to Australia and New Guinea, but only the Australian one is famous for its unmistakable laughing call. They feed on insects, snakes, frogs and other small animals.

I got very curious about the laugh so I searched for it and listened it. Haha, that is one funny bird call!

See this video to hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fc_-icFHwQo&feature=fvw

I love postcards from France as it's the most beautiful country in the world, in my opinion. J'aime la langue française aussi! :) Dunkerque is a city located in the northern part of France. In fact, it even borders Belgium and it is located next to the Northsea. Three great nightviews of this beautiful place!

Thank you very much Margaux!!

These cards have been sent by Annie in Belarus. Both are really nice, but the owl is fantastic!!

The aerial view shows the Naroch resort located next to the Naroch national park. Annie says that this place is a popular place to spend week-ends and vacations. I'd certainly wouldn't mind spending my time there for 1-2 weeks :)

I have no idea what kind of owl this is on the second card, but he/she is obviously a juvenile.

Thank you so much Annie!! I hope my 2 cards will arrive soon.

Wesley

Volcán del Cuervo located at Lanzarote. It looks pretty deserted but most certainly impressive!

Thank you Ave for this card!!

An owl!! Always nice to receive cards with owls on it. My favorite kind of bird!

This is a Great Horned Owl (Bubo virginlanus). He/She looks kind of angry on this card, but that's because of the angle this photo has been taken from and the fact that they just don't have a nice facial expression.

Anyway, a great card which I want to thank Mary Ellen for!!

Wesley

A great distance view of the Mount Fuji in Japan. A very impressive sight!

Info:
Mount Fuji is the highest mountain in Japan at 3,776 m (12,388 ft). Along with Mount Tate and Mount Haku, it is one of Japan's "Three Holy Mountains". An active stratovolcano that last erupted in 1707–08, Mount Fuji is just west of Tokyo, and can be seen from there on a clear day. Mount Fuji's exceptionally symmetrical cone is a well-known symbol of Japan and it is frequently depicted in art and photographs, as well as visited by sightseers and climbers.

I'm not swapping that long with Heather but I have already received so many beautiful cards from her! These two were delivered today and I absolutely LOVE them. The Qantas boeing 744 is such an amazing surprise. She even found an aviation stamp for me and used that one to send this card. The Australia map card is very beautiful and shows some great views of the Australian wildlife and scenery. (Even an owl indeed Heather!)

Thank you so much Heather!! 2 cards will be on their way soon.

Wesley
